HAFSLUND SELECTS EMBRIQ'S ZIGBEE TECHNOLOGY FOR AMI PRE-PILOT.

Embriq and Hafslund will now towards the end of 2009, set up a pre-pilot test of Embriqs ZigBee radio solution for automatic reading of meters (AMI).

Pre-pilot will be installed in both urban areas and in more rural suroundings - all located in Hafslund's network area.

"This is a confirmation that ZigBee technology is of great interest as a communication media in a future AMI solution. Our experience with Zigbee is that communication is suitable in both urban and rural areas. This solution is implemented by the Embriq's project in Gothenburg  with deployment of 270,000 AMI meters. We have used 98% ZigBee and only 2% GPRS meters in this project,  says CEO of Embriq Lennart Fransson.

Installation of infrastructure (measurement and concentrators) will be finalized in before christmas and the communications tests of the ZigBee radio technology, will take place from January and up to the summer. Embriq will supply infrastructure and the collection software for its part of this pre-pilot.
